Fix A Leak is a blended-concentrated material designed to seal minor leaks in the plumbing. One 8 oz. bottle is effective for hot tubs and spas ranging from 250-1000 gallons (950-3785 liters).
When fixing a hot tub or spa the water temperature should be no less than 70°F or 21°C.
Hot tub and spa leaks can be detected by notable water loss not caused by evaporation, a wet spot on the ground, or possibly a slow drip coming out of the foam insulation. If the foam insulation surrounding the tub or spa is saturated with water the hot tub or spa has been leaking for a prolonged period of time.
The 32 oz. pool size bottle can be used for hot tub and spa repair if the 8 oz. bottle cannot be acquired. By using 1/3 of the 32 oz. bottle or less follow the same directions for a hot tub or spa leak. If water loss exceeds 1 inch in a 24-hour period it may be beneficial to purchase the 32oz bottle for multiple applications if needed.
Most repairs in hot tubs and spas will last between 1-2 years.
Cold weather precautions
Do not use more than 16oz of Fix A Leak if the outdoor temperature is near or below freezing. The draining method is not suitable for this scenario and the remainder of the product will have to be filtered out. Follow the instructions above, but instead of draining reinstall the filters and run all of the jets for 2-4 hours. Remove the filters and clean thoroughly with warm water while still wet to remove the product. The cleaning process can be repeated if necessary. The filters can then be reinstalled and normal operation resumed. This application should get the spa through the winter season. Another application may be required once the outdoor temperatures are above freezing.
